about our multi-activity family holidays

MoaAlm is the perfect place for an adventurous, fun and 'relaxingly active' holiday for your entire family! The possibilities to have outdoor-fun are endless. We love the mountains and sharing our knowledge of this region with you by taking you on guided activities ranging from hiking and mountain biking to rafting.

Children of all ages are welcome! However, some activities require a minimum age or endurance. In general 10 year olds are able to join in all activities.

Hiking. MoaAlm is the perfect place for discovering the mountains by foot. Depending on the groups preferences and ages we will take you on guided hikes of up to four hours. We love to share our knowledge of the mountains and show you the most beautiful spots. Three guided hikes are included in the price.

Mountain biking. We will take you on a bike tour around the valley. Because we use e-bikes the tour will be fun and challenging for the whole family; those with less endurance can just use a little extra electric help! One day e-bike rental in included in the price.

Rafting. A rafting trip down the Isle river is a must for every adventurous family! A local rafting guide will contain your vessel and we will come along for translation if necessary. One rafting tour is included in the price.

Yoga. For those family members interested in yoga we offer a morning yoga class on 5 days of the week. You are very welcome to join whether you have never done yoga before or you are a regular practitioner - classes are always tailored to individual needs.

All activities are optional. You are welcome to go on self-guided hikes (we will supply maps and routes) or organise your own activities.

there is even more to do

Apart from the above activities there is much more to do in and around MoaAlm. At MoaAlm we have loads of games, a ping pong table and a slack-line. In a 30km range there are many playgrounds, a swimming pool, a rodel-rollercoaster, a water-park and a climbing-play-park. At additional cost we can arrange extra activities in the area such as canyoning, paragliding, and rock climbing.

At MoaAlm we love food and we love eating it together! Children, parents and staff all eat at the same time. Our chef will prepare child-friendly food that also pleases grown-ups. Does your family have dietary requirements or 'favourites'? Make sure you let our chef know... they are happy to accommodate you!

There is no better start of the day than a nutritious breakfast. We serve fresh fruits, oats & cereals, bread, eggs and much more. After an active day in the outdoors you can relax with a cup of tea and enjoy our freshly baked cake - you've deserved it! At dinner our chef always surprises us with a delicious meal made with lots of love and attention. We believe that food tastes best when it grows close-by: our ingredients are local, fresh and organic whenever possible. We have no set daily schedule. We understand that every guest and every day is different. The benefit of small groups is that we can adapt, discuss, and personalise each day.  However, a typical week might look like this:

  • Day 1: Arrival to your mountain home from homes, 'MoaAlm'. Welcome drink and a chat over dinner about your weekly activity preferences.
  • Day 2: Might look like: We start the week with a mountain bike tour around the valley. We have a picnic out and about and then come back to relax at the house in the late afternoon before dinner is served and tomorrow's plans are proposed.
  • Day 3: May be breakfast followed by a hike to a waterfall. We have lunch at a mountain hut and hike back up to MoaAlm the enjoy the late afternoon sun on the terrace while the BBQ is prepared.
  • Day 4: Could be a rainy day so we head down the valley to do some rafting! After an exciting rafting tour we come back to the house to warm up with tea, cake and board games followed by a hearty dinner.
  • Day 5: No guided activities today so you could head to the nearby town of Lienz to try the rodel-rollercoaster, browse the shops, taste local wine or visit a large playground. Dinner out this evening at one of the restaurants in the village.
  • Day 6: Might look like: We take the gondola up to take a high alpine hike and enjoy the stunning panoramic views. We can picnic on a mountain top and maybe split up on the way down - those who feel up for it hike down and the rest of the family can take the gondola back down.
  • Day 7: Friday comes around all too quickly but you make the most of the holiday by going for a final hike or visiting the swimming pool. Final evening meal at the house with new friends!

This holiday was easily the best I've ever been on. Everyone there was so kind and welcoming, the activities were engaging and exciting (not to mention so much fun) and the food was amazing! The rooms, accompanied by stunning views, were comfortable and spotless. You would have to try very hard not to enjoy this delightful experience. As a teenager myself, I would highly recommend this to families who want to get outdoors.
