You will receive a concise alpine training given by the well known local mountain guides from
Kals. You will receive an introduction to rock climbing, learn material handling techniques (rope, knot and crampon handling) and slope & ice techniques (crossing firm slopes, fall prevention
and recovering, crevasse rescuing). Depending on group preferences and your alpine experience, the level of training can be adjusted to the needs and desires of the participants.
The Grossglockner ascent starts at MoaAlm or Lucknerhaus (depending on weather and group preferences). A 2 to 4 hour hike will
take us to the Stüdlhütte, where we will have a break. From there we will ascent over the Ködnitzkees Glacier to practice on snow and ice. Depending on weather and group preferences we
will continue towards the Adlersruh hut or turn back to Stüdlhütte to spend the night. The next morning, small groups of maximum 3 participants per guide will ascent to the summit during sunrise.
Depending on experience of participants the program can be adjusted.
The program is subjected to weather conditions, but our mounatineering week could look like this:
Day 1 - Arrival, check-in from 17.00h
Day 2 - Mountain bike tour to get to know the area
Day 3 - Hiking tour to get 'warmed-up' and acclimatized
Day 4 - Alpine training part 1 - material handling and rock climbing
Day 5 - Alpine training part 2 - material handling and ice training, Grossglockner ascent part 1
Day 6 - Grossglockner ascent part 2
Day 7 - 'Free day', Back-up day Grossglockner ascent in case of bad weather
